. . The review found that the risks of dying prematurely increase significantly for women once they drink 25 grams of alcohol a day, which is less than two standard cocktails containing 45 milliliters (1.5 ounces) of distilled spirits, two 360-mL beers or two 150-mL glasses of wine. The risks to men increase significantly at 45 g of alcohol a day, or just over three drinks. . .

I always found it weird. It was always;

Alcohol is a very dangerous poison.

But some is good for you! Totally trust us!

Never sat well with me. Though I have pushed the "some alcohol is healthy" lie out of ignorance. The other half (third? quarter? fifth?) of the (((lie))) is that you can be addicted to alcohol. Which you can't, a normal and expected chemical dependence is not an addiction. Addiction is an abnormal dependence on something.

But it's part of European culture.

100% In very infrequent settings with alcohol that's at most as high of an ABV as "women's drinks". Then we saw the red-pill info posted by Khro_ recently about how "beer" isn't beer if it contains (((hops))) and true beer is gruit (IIRC that's the name).

Take all this shit with a grain of salt.

If it’s natural, it’s not going to be the end of the world as long as it’s imbibed in moderation.

Get drunk every night - bad

Get drunk every now and then - probably not terrible for your health, but terrible for your soul.

Have an occasional drink - probably not all that bad.

It doesn't work that way.

Take a population of 100 people in the US and let them buy alcohol at age 18 (or younger if they can do it) and here is what you get:

  • 30 people who don't drink.
  • 34 people who drink "casually" - up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men) - note this is still bad for you.
  • 18 binge drinkers - people who have four drinks for women or five drinks for men within two hours - this is terrible for you.
  • 10 full blown alcoholics - a chronic relapsing brain disease characterized by compulsive alcohol use, loss of control over alcohol intake, and a negative emotional state when not using.
  • 8 abstainers - these are people who were binge drinkers or full blown alcoholics but are currently abstaining. They often relapse, ask anyone in

Alcohol is a fucking poison and a plague on society. The "casual drinker" group is a minority. The odds are better than 50% that if you drink alcohol regularly, you will end up a binge drinker, an alcoholic, or an abstainer, not a casual drinker. Alcohol isn't a "choice" like what color of car to buy. It's a highly addictive substance. A majority of people can't handle it, will get addicted, and will have their lives ruined to some degree. It's no coincidence that "liquor licensing" is controlled by jews. Read about it in Henry Ford's book "the international jew". There's an entire chapter about jews and liquor licensing in the United States. You know those slimy fucks also sponsored the "studies" promoting "moderate drinking" as healthy too.

been a whiskey/water drinker for over 45 yrs.

I enjoy drinking with friends and there's nothing wrong with it.

This is obvious to everyone who isn't an idiot or pushing booze (either in their own justification of habit or for profit). All studies to the contrary have always been fake, even if accurate, because you can choose what info you want to iscolate to make a study say whatever you want.

Long the narrative has been something along the lines of, "Red wine is great for antioxidants, which are good for your heart and many people don't get enough of. Some wine is good for you."

Compared to what? Having no antioxidants in your diet? Maybe I guess. But you could just eat some berries or something and get all you need and some other healthy stuff too with less calories and sugars, no risk of inebriation, etc so forth.

"Wine is healthy cause it has stuff that's good for your heart" is akin to saying, "I need an ice cream sundae for the calcium." Does it have calcium? I mean sure. Does that make it healthy? Of course not.

A truly occasional glass of wine if you limit it to that is no worse for you than a sundae on a special occassion. But you shouldn't drink regularly any more than you should eat sundaes all the time so let's not pretend either of them are "healthy."

Red wine contains something other than antioxidants. While the antioxidant angle is pushed, it really has nothing or little to do with the medical claims.

We don’t even use exogenous antioxidants like they say we do. Those are phytochrmicals made by and for plants. Humans make their own and you have to eat/sleep properly to maximize them.

Cut my drinking in half during the week and switched back to light beer. While not sound, feel a lot better in the morning. Not drinking rest of the weekend either, but had more last night
