I encourage people to investigate making their own soap. Soaps are usually excellent products.

Agreed. But there are many sellers too. They just make them expensive. Simple recipes are not too bad. But the up front cost might keep many out.
In days gone by women would frequently make their own soap for the family. It would be used for everything from hands to clothes. Of course, that was when women commonly contributed to the home and family.
