There are many different PCR tests from all over the world, every one of them testing for different parts of the 30,000 "letters" of the SARS-CoV-2 RNA. They are testing for a very small part, and they have to chose a part that is unique and that stays the same in new variants. Some got it wrong, most got it right. If one of them tested for a part of the RNA that is not there in newer variants, they will correct that, and that's it. No need for headlines with "mutants" that "evade".
