Probably true. That's actually why we shouldn't be freaking out. It's just another cause of death out there. Some causes of death decline, others advance. The general trend is downward and we shouldn't live in fear just because the specific prevailing causes of death fluctuate.
Now it is a good reason to stay home while sick, knowing you could spread a disease that is actually deadly (only a bit more than the flu).
