Jesus died because the evil Jews killed him. Jesus died because the Jews will destroy anything good. Including the kindest, most righteous thing God has ever created. Jesus' death in no way guarantees you a spot in Heaven. Jesus dying for our sins means that you don't have to sacrifice animals at the alter when we sin, or many of the other Old Testament ways. But I will say this again - God gave us free will. If God were to do things for us, that would negate our free will, and God would never do that. God instead gives us the knowledge, tools, and abilities to vanquish evil form this world. By failing to use that knowledge, those tools, and those abilities, you are refusing God. And there will be a warm place in Hell for anyone who turns their back on God and the knowledge, tools, and abilities he has given.
