When our computers died, (son has since built himself a big gaming pc that I won't go near😄), he let me borrow one of his old laptops from when he was in school. I had thought of getting one and needed something.
So, a little window pops up with an update notice. Trying to be nice and do the right thing, (what did I know🙄), I did the update.
The screen turns black and there's a notice that it's an unlicensed copy and has been disabled. Kid and his f'n bootleg shit.
So I start sweating and panicking, he is going to kill me! Deep breath..... think.... okay, try 'systems restore'. Was able to find it and do it.
Held my breath until his wallpaper appeared. OMG, Lurk, I was never so happy to see an animé girl in my life!
Proofreading this I thought it could be a great chan/kun post! 🤣
But anyways, I love the tablets. They're just enough for what I need and not too terribly complicated.
Lol! The joy of success! The black screen of death is about how I felt when my old kindle suddenly died (with all my contact info, passwords, etc) contained within.
The joy I had when my old Kindle was eventually able to turn on with a mostly charged battery after a few days of major stress after multiple failed attempts to recharge it and power up. I was able to get almost everything I needed from it before it crashed again. I can certainly relate to that underlying sense of relief that comes with a successful recovery.

Kind of just happened to me with my dumb flip phone.
"Well, you can try Bulldog and see if you can get a battery."
Um, no, I need this NOW!
Carrier is dumping flip phones, but found one new phone in the back. No way to transfer since only one battery. Had to buy the new phone just to get the battery for my old one!
I'm keeping a printed copy of accounts, passwords, phone numbers, etc just in case now. If I lose it again I will have most of what I need, I have yet to recreate my old bookmarks ... my old Amazon Kindle Silk browser does not allow a method of exporting them.
In the meantime Amazon disabled my Brave browser with the excuse that the developers were notified that Kindle has a new software revision and the folks at Brave have not yet released a new compliant version of Brave yet. So I'm back on the crappy silk browser again. Funny my other apps still work after the new software revision. I have the impression Amazon doesn't want me to use Brave.
