Just heard of this compound again after many years.

Great drug or the best drug? JK, anyone familiar with it?

I have taken low dose naltrexone, 4.5mg, for at least five years, maybe even longer. I take it to help my autoimmune issues. I had hives on my legs for two years and after two weeks after building up to the 4.5mg, they went away. I have taken it ever since. My naturepath had recommended it and metformin. I started metformin a few years later when I started getting random rashes and my lips were swelling up for no apparent reason. Now, I usually only get rashes and swollen parts when I am exposed to chemicals or foods I react to.

Metformin is amazing for me. I really messed my insulin sensitivity up when taking too much insulin for years while bodybuilding. Yes regular insulin is one of the strongest anabolic compounds available but pretty dangerous as well if you're not careful. Anyway, metformin was able to reset my insulin sensitivity and helps me to not be able to put on any body fat even if I gorge myself

I use (some) Metformin to keep my blood sugar in check. Interesting info re autoimmune. Have you seen 's post in here?

Yeah, surprisingly it has done nothing for my blood sugar. The going theory is that my blood sugar problems are more related to my thyroid issues. I have high fasting blood sugar. It will actually go down if I eat. It's wacky and my doc just shrugs because he doesn't care since I won't take any other meds.

Good on you, not taking meds you don't absolutely have to. Also: Our bodies are weird sometimes. :)

Yeah, I know a bunch of people who have used it.

It can be very useful for people trying to get off alcohol/opiods/opiates, but it really isn't a miracle drug and should not be treated as a 'cure' to addiction. That being said, I think it can be a useful tool in the short-run.

I use ultra low dose for nerve pain issues. 2mg is what I usually take and it helps with my neuropathy. I have tried almost every thing to deal with nerve issues and almost every opioid available since it's easier for docs to pass out drugs that get me high rather than dealing with root cause. The low dose naltrexone is literally a life changer for me and though it doesn't appear to do too much, on bad nerve days I have an extremely hard time even getting out of bed without it.

My neuropathy that naltrexone fixes is mainly my body falling asleep. Like the feeling when you sleep wrong and circulation getting cut off to a limb. My problem is that my neuropathy is total body and hits at random times through the day so it's not a constant but when it does it, it is painful.

Neuropathy is not what the drug was made for so I have to get it from a compounding pharmacy and insurance will not cover it. Also another drug that helps with my nerve issues is Human Growth Hormone but that's another one that insurance doesn't like to cover. I get it for 40 bucks for 10 vials from Europe but if I get it from US pharmacy without insurance it can cost anywhere from $300-2,600 for 10 vials.

Good info, thanks for sharing.

Old gold standard drug, mostly used to reverse opioids. Addicts hate it because it sobers them up even if they've overdosed...

Now it's used for all sorts of things. You can buy it otc now as a nasal spray.

You are thinking of Naloxone/Narcan, which is not the same as Naltrexone

Ooops you're correct sir, my mistake. naltrexone doesn't cause instant sobriety.
