The key to a long healthy life.

The key to a long healthy life.

Fasting is a really good thing to do for long term health. I did fasting every other day when I was in my 20s but life got in the way and I ended up going back to regular meals. Since the beginning of winter, I have begun the process of getting back to every other day fasting. I'm currently intermittent fasting with one decently portioned meal per day to get adjusted to a change in daily caloric intake when I switch to fasting for more than 24 hours. I can tell that there has been a change in my metabolism and overall health and energy.

In a couple of weeks I think I can switch over and do the every other day thing again. I know it will do wonders for me and I'm kind of kicking myself for not going back to fasting for more than a couple of decades. I feel so much better and I know that will improve more when I cut over to full fasting. I am also taking the necessary vitamin and mineral supplements that work best for me so I won't go into a state where my tissues get attacked as my body scavenges for the required building blocks needed during fasting days. I hope I can stick with this for a much longer time now since this really is a good thing to do.

People call it "fasting", I call it "eating once a day to conserve my budget".

How much should I fast before I notice something? Or is this something you only notice after years of periodic fasting?

And is one day a week enough?

I'm not a medical professional, but concerning heart health, my understanding is that by doing a multi-day fast, the body stabilizes the problem causing plaque and drastically eases inflammation.

Fasting can have some significant results in the short term depending on your health condition, but most benefits would require a long term fasting plan.

I fast Monday, Wednesday, Friday. My bf has dissuaded me from telling the doctor he wants me to go to. I think next time we go I will break it to him and see. He is already mad because I refuse all the Rxs he has prescribed. I am on Rx drugs but they are not exactly what he would want and I found ways of getting the scripts legally but just because I say I want them.

I do fast 4 times per month. 2~3 days on average. I drink lots of mineral water and lemon juice, coffee and tea.

I do 24 -36 hours. I try to hit the 36 mark but don't beat myself up if I only get to 24 hours.

My bf is a food addict and I can get him to do 24 hours with me occasionally but he says my inner anorexic is showing. **

I've only managed to go about 33hrs. At that point I feel the effects of low blood glucose. Heart rate is elevated, very jittery, and sweating.. I feel like at that point, if I don't eat something right away, then I won't have the energy to eat something before too much more time passes.

The goal is to not eat sugar. The body has to manage with stored fat to compensate. It also helps with recalibrating the insulin receptors.
