Interesting. I assumed the lead was naturally in the spice, not adulterated with lead. This gets me thinking, what other things we eat are adulterated with poison? Just off the top of my head, I think of fluoride, artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, bromide and likely many other compounds. However, our FDA is captured by too big to exist corporations to do anything.
Don't forget soy. And hops. Pay attention, men.
If you read further it as actually adulterated with "lead chromate" which apparently gave a very bright yellow color that is often associated with quality turmeric.. So yeah, they were literally poisoning people because they wanted that color and to cut it meant "selling more".
Yea, the "food" industry paints vegetables to make them look more appealing... speaking of which, Baal Gates owns some evil corporation that covers vegetables with some new poison. I guess it's back to farming your own produce.
Growing your own tastes way better anyway. Sure, its work and you have to have some space but even if you just grow a small amount you can have varieties that are not in stores since they don't 'travel well" or "look funny" but damn do they taste better.
