Historically, leprosy has been uncommon in the US, and most cases have come from people who immigrated from countries where the disease is more common.
But since 2000, cases of leprosy have gradually increased, and have more than doubled over the past decade.
Well has immigration from countries where leprosy is common also increased since 2000? Of course a top journalist would never consider investigating this relationship.
It is almost as if leprosy and your fear of it are the desired outcomes.

(The modern leprosy is not that contagious ... Generally requires a swap of bodily fluids. Every ~5 years there is a story about leprosy ... some dirty mofo gets busy with a forest crab.)
