Anecdotal... I switched to pink Himalayan salt about a decade ago, and health is much better overall since I firmly believe more salt is better for me and use about 3 tablespoons a day. For the past year, I have switched to 3 different salts that are similar to pink Himalayan due to 80+ trace minerals, but the taste profile of them are absolutely stunning.
The 3 I like are all gathered from collecting and drying sea water in specific locations. My favorites are French grey (uses Celcit methods to gather salt), Hawaiin black (collected from black clay pits surrounding volcanic activities), and red clay salt (dried sea water dried in natural red clay pits. Forget location) They can all be found here along with many more if you're interested. https://sfsalt.com/
Good screencap thread brother.
Oh yes, I'm big on salt too. Everything a jew tells you is bad means that it's pure medicine.
I put Himalayan salt on my food and take a tablespoon or two of raw sea salt flakes throughout the day, depending on how much I sweated and what was my caffeine intake (caffeine is a diuretic, makes you lose sodium). I firmly believe that eating a lot of salt is having positive effect on my strength training performance.
Also people are afraid high salt intake will make they retain too much water. If only there was some way you could lose excess water through your skin...
My nutritionist/HGH doc has competed for 20+ years and says he prevents cramps & lethargy by eating 2 tablespoons of salt a day. Glad you notice the strength increase too w/ increased salt. Most people are not in tune w/ their bodies enough to realize the difference it makes.
Only time I decrease salt intake is when I feel like dropping a few lbs of water weight to appear more shredded/vascular for beach season.
I realized after watching so many 2 week pre contest prep cycles, that 1.5-2 gallons of water a day makes me retain less water and be less bloated. I'm on gear too so it's always important to pay attention to my hormone levels and get my blood tested every 3 months to see what's going on. As lifters though, blood tests will not reflect correctly to a doctor since the norm is to compare our results to sedentary males that don't lift. Being on gear and taking control of my own health makes me distrust doctors more than ever.
I never trust a doctor, especially since they are on a 3 years murder spree right now.
I know used to know someone who has benefited a lot from getting a low dose HGH from a clinic, but it was expensive. I've been thinking about getting on it, and could probably source it on black market. How is your experience so far?
They look good. Ive been using pink Himalayan for several years now. Bit of a tangent, but i purchase a quality non gmo brand of separate refills for my pepper grinder and mix a combo of the Black, Red, Green, White corns - i prefer more green and red corns in my mix than the pre-mixed 'gourmet shakers' plus it's works out much cheaper to buy 4 refills of different colors than to buy a single pre-mix . lol.
Great idea, mate. I never thought about mixing the corns but will try it when I make next trip to get groceries. I didn't even realize there is a green pepper corn though I do use the green jalapeno powder sometimes.
Yea, try it out, buy all 4 and mix and match - flavor profile of green peppercorns while similar to black is not as hot/ spicy with a bit more of a fruity note. as mentioned before i use more green and red (pink) probably 2-1 to black and white in my grinder. Good luck.
Salt is so important! I did some crazy diet 20 years ago cutting out meat, dairy, soy, gluten, oil, and salt. I about lost my mind. Did it for a few years. Went to something like keto/paleo after that and added sea/mineral type salts back in. Just having salt and oil back made me able to think and function again.
I'm autoimmune and didn't know it at the time and was trying to fix myself every way I could not knowing the true cause. It was the worst diet I could have chosen. The first day I went back to salt, I actually craved salt water. It was amazing how quickly I started feeling better.
I've played with my diet quite a lot as well. Took me a long time (decades) to figure out every diet 'expert' is either a scammers, on gear, or is just anecdotal bc that diet is what works for him.
Glad you came back to the salt life. In my elementary broscience thoughts, I imagine since we are mostly water, salt would be more conducive to help with sending electrical signals where they need to go within our body and brain.
Yeah, I know what works for me doesn't for my bf diet-wise. Even my mom reacts differently to different diets than I do. I think most of us have to try all kinds of stuff to see what we feel best on. Unfortunately, I've found a lot of things I'm sensitive or outright allergic to.
