Homosexuality is "awakened" by sexual boredom. The saturation of the media with conventional sexual images causes the human mind to cease to react to such imagery. In a search to find some new type of sexual triggers that will cause the mind, and by association the body, to react in a sexual way, the mind grasps at homosexuality, which is still somewhat of a novelty, although less and less so with each passing day. When homosexuality loses its interest, as it invariably does, the mind move on to more extreme sexual imagery, such as torture and child porn, for the same reason it moved from normal sexual triggers to homosexual triggers -- boredom. There is only one antidote to this progression of perversion. The individual must decide to draw a firm line in the sand and must say to himself or herself, "This line I will not cross." When they have the support of religious law, it is easier because the religion sets the limit for them; but when they are alone and adrift, morally lost, finding the limit becomes much more difficult, and for many people it becomes impossible. They slide into the most extreme perversions imaginable by the human mind, and even these fail after time to elicit a sexual thrill response.
