all they would need to do is stop subsidizing sugar, corn is such a shit show in that regard

Look into a company called Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and you'll go down a rabbit hole of corn subsidies. You'll also discover why ethanol in gasoline is a thing and how MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) is part of the scam. Add Cargill to the mix and you will hate subsidies and industrial farming even more than you do now.

Here's a couple of links to get you started down the hole:

They call obesity an epidemic. Bring in the "obesity lockdowns". No leaving the house until you're no longer fat.

[–] 2 pts

There would be a lot of dead fat people.

"Six months form this date anyone who is still obese will no longer be considered a human being, but a fuel source."

Problem solved.

  • Max one hour of TV per day. None for <13 years old.
  • No video games.
  • No processed food allowed in the house.
  • No restaurant deliveries to the house.
  • One hour intense exercise required, every day.
  • Weekly weighings, charted by a doctor.
  • When the patient becomes merely 'overweight' (less than obese) for 3 months, the restrictions end.
  • No exceptions. No excuses.

One hour intense exercise required, every day.

No. That's retarded as fuck. If you think that's even remotely close to reasonable you have no idea how the human body functions under stress or any of the contextual facets of this topic.

much like the measures taken to fight covid, it would be a horrendous intrusion on our liberties

Probably about as effective as the drug war.

Fats should be interned in giant hamster wheels connected to generators. The spectacle of them crying, puking, and sweating would be worth it.

Everyone would have diabetes.

Oh wait...

More seriously, our food and drug companies and the FDA have been promoting diets designed to cause major obesity and health issues at least since the 1980s. The food guide pyramid has bread at the base. Our grains are nutrient depleted due to decades of industrial farming and bulked up using chemical fertilizers. Sure, it's edible and holds off starvation but it doesn't promote health.

If we were to actually want to stop the fat epidemic we would be promoting the following:

  1. No sodas or sugary beverages.
  2. Increased consumption of meat and eggs.
  3. Promoting regular fasting - a 1 or 2 day fast helps reset the body.
  4. Promoting holistic medicine - no more weird side effects.
  5. Promoting home gardening and consumption of whole, unprocessed vegetables.
  6. Decreased consumption of grains with an emphasis on returning to more natural farming methods and regenerative farming practices.
  7. Promotion of healthy food options at fast food restaurants and other restaurants.

Of course, all of these steps would reduce the validity of the FDA and reduce profits for big-pharma, Monsanto, Cargill, etc. so the lobbyists will make sure this stuff stays only on obscure web forums and out of mainstream practice.
