In response to the conversation here about cutting out sugar: https://poal.co/s/TellPoal/542983, I found this video with Dr. Lustig. What I find intersting about him is just how he keeps on making the case that sugar is poison.

That has been a critical change in my mental frame with respect to sugar as of late. Everyone talks about sugar and starches using very rounded language that is designed to keep the speakers out of controversy because their careers depend on it. He is actually going out and just saying it.

I thought some here might find this interesting in the above context.

I love sugar. It's beautiful, it's pure, it's natural. A life without sugar would be a very sad life. I'm drinking some sugar right now. I squeezed the juice of a fresh lime into a tankard of cold water, and added a spoonful of white sugar and some ice cubes. It's a good drink. Nothing artificial about it. Sugar is great in ice tea as well. If we want to throw rocks at something, we should throw rocks at artificial sweeteners that promote weight gain and cause cancer. Artificial coloring is just as bad.

Ebola is natural, pure and beautiful. So is Anthrax.

Not everything natural is beautiful. Sugar happens to be one of those beautiful, natural things.
