yoga.. no shit.
after a lifetime of doing stupid shit and then jumping out of planes for a living; as I got older it became harder to move. yoga, DDP Yoga specifically, has changed that path dramatically. now instead of taking 800mgs of motrin for my back and knees, i do 30+ mins on the mat. individual miles will vary, of course, but hey, why not?
Used to think that yoga was a chick thing. Then, while training MMA, I was having difficulty with a specific technique that relies heavily on a stabilizing muscle in the leg which you very rarely use in daily life. It was agonizing to perform the technique, and none of the typical stretches I knew would hit that muscle.
I did some research, identified the name of the muscle that was ailing me, and searched... yoga was in top results. I checked out a video of a woman demonstrating a few stretches, gave them a try... holy shit. It was so simple, but so effective. It was like... I hadn't moved that muscle in months, and doing these stretches finally got blood flowing back into it! The stiffness went away, and when I began practicing that technique again, there was no pain or shakiness due to that muscle.
Yoga is not a chick thing. It is a great supplementary discipline to support more typical workout routines. Most people can benefit from it. You don't have to enroll in daily classes or anything, just look up some stretches and try them out; there's a treasure trove of great stuff that you've probably never even considered!
I love that idea and that's also why I am going to abstain for as long as possible and start doing kegels as well. I heard after a while you can transmute as well. How long have you been doing yoga? I'll check out DDP yoga as well. Thanks for the suggestion.
I've been at it about a year. dropped my NSAID intake by over 60%; lost 30 pounds; can move like im 20 again (of course movement comes with the added weight loss, but i wont look a gift horse in the mouth). DDPY gets progressively harder too; makes me look forward to it.
That's awesome and I did goat yoga a while back. It was fun and so many beautiful women. I'll definitely look into DDPY. Thanks again
