Covid is a persistent virus -- not a dangerous virus, but a persistent virus. It hangs around for weeks, sometimes for more than a month. I think this is true for everybody, but for many people the symptoms are so mild they don't even realize they still have them.
Covid does damage to the lungs, and it takes time for that damage to repair itself. Hence the Covid cough that never seems to go away. Have you noticed that media people everywhere are coughing into their microphones? That's Covid, hanging on long after the worst of the disease has gone away.
I doubt there really is a "long Covid." What I think is going on is that all Covid is "long Covid," but that most people don't really notice the symptoms after a couple of weeks. A few get hit with symptoms that are more annoying, and they are the ones who notice how long Covid symptoms hang around in the body.
I'm just getting over Omicron myself, and I still have the sneezing and the cough, even though it's been more than three weeks. The cough is mild, the sneezing fits are infrequent, but I still get them. Do I have "long Covid?" No, I have regular Covid, which takes a long time to go away.
I'm sorry to hear you got covid. Take care.
Thats so weird. I finally got the coof myself a week ago. I had body aches for 2 days ran a fever of 99.9F and was tired. I literally took 4 ibuprofen and 2 benedryll ( to make me sleep). Then used tylenol after that as a instructed on the bottle. Drank water and juice. That was it. I wasnt sure i had until i lost my smell and tase 5 days later. Taste is coming back but smell is still broken. No congestion. No cough. Oh and not vaxxed either.
