There are many different levels of schizophrenia. Most shrinks believe that smoking dope exacerbates it, according to what I have read, and dealt with first-hand over 54 years of knowing potheads.
There is a correlation between smoking and schizophrenia, and every single study tries to explain that with one causing the other. But scientists use the abstract and discussion sections of their papers to please the sponsors, and nobody wants natural competition to psychotropic drugs.
I don't think smoking causes it, just amplifies it. Back when I was a pothead, I acted and thought bizarre shit, even when I wasn't high. Nowadays I'm just antisocial.
I once was climbing the job ladder very fast because I was late to the game, smoked to stop thinking about the job to find sleep. The long term side effect is that I'm here now - not innocuous that stuff.
