This is an illness often resulting in pulmonary disease and or fever present throughout the western United States due to an endemic fungus in the soil. It typically strikes in the fall, when an early rain is followed by more drought, but can be exacerbated by wind, construction and even earthquakes. Incubation period: 1 to 3 weeks Disease may persist for a month or more, with occasional permanent effects depending on severity of infection. Recommend course of action is to avoid dust and high winds, as well as supplementing with immune boosting mushrooms such as reishi.
