But the whole reason people aren’t getting vaccinated is because they aren’t afraid of the virus

Are you sure you're making the right assumption? My reason for not getting vaccinated is because vaccine is an unnecessary risk for me considering the characteristics of the virus. Not to be confused with being unafraid of virus. The virus is still an unknown factor and getting sick from it would certainly suck. And this is what they're banking on. "To avoid this discomfort and possible death, you must stay away from the vaccinated". I know I'm willing to take that risk, but do you know how others would think? You seem way too confident about how singular the reason against vaccine may be.

I don’t think it takes overconfidence to realize that if someone is more afraid of the vaccine than the virus, then they aren’t afraid enough of the virus to care that much about distancing

Again, you're making wide leaps with assumptions. I said vaccine was an unnecessary risk. If catching the virus was like winning a lottery after playing 1000 scratchers, getting the vaccine would be like someone giving you the lottery prize. At the end result of vaccine or the virus, you still end up getting sick with the symptoms of the virus.

Now, the article claims that you get sick with the virus from the vaccinated. It's drawing the mental picture that someone who was given the lottery prize is giving you some of that prize money. Whether you're afraid or not of the virus, getting sick from it would suck nonetheless.

And if you had any fears that the virus might kill you, then you wouldn’t view the risk as unnecessary.

Getting sick with the cold sucks, but that didn’t make you afraid to go out in public during cold season
