Although the EU complains of a shortage of vaccines, it refuses to order the Russian vaccine. The EU cannot show more clearly that it is not about vaccinations, but about the profits of Western pharmaceutical companies.

I have been pointing out since May 2020 that it is not a matter for the EU, nor for most of its member states, to vaccinate people as quickly as possible against the "plague" from which hardly anyone dies, but that it is only about the profits of the Western pharmaceutical companies.

In the meantime, it has unfortunately been shown that my suspicions have proved to be true.

The EU's all-round carefree package for Western pharmaceutical companies.

In August 2020, the EU began to conclude preliminary agreements with Western pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca or BioNTech/Pfizer, although it was not even clear at the time whether they would succeed in developing vaccines at all. Nevertheless, they were paid in advance, which was not refundable even in the event of a failure in the development of vaccines. In addition, the EU has also exempted Western pharmaceutical companies from liability for everything from vaccine damage to late delivery. The EU has paid billions for this all-round carefree package for pharmaceutical companies.

Nevertheless, the lack of vaccines has dominated the headlines for months now. The reason: Western companies refuse-with the explicit support of politicians-to have their vaccines produced under licence. This would be the solution to the problem, because the vaccine shortage is only due to the fact that one has to wait until the Western pharmaceutical companies with their own limited capacities have produced the vaccine. One could multiply the production capacities tomorrow if one would allow other companies and laboratories to produce the vaccines under license.

The pharmaceutical companies do not want this, however, because they earn far more from the self-produced vaccine than from a license fee. So, with the explicit support of politicians, it is banally about the profits of the pharmaceutical companies.

# Vaccination is unimportant, profit is more important.

There would be a solution on how to solve the problem with the lack of vaccines without the Western companies having to issue licenses. Russia offers to produce its vaccine Sputnik-V under license and so the vaccine shortage could be eliminated very quickly.

That the Russian vaccine is incidentally better than its competitors from the West, should only be mentioned in passing. Sputnik-V is a researched vector vaccine and not an experimental mRNA vaccine, and its effectiveness – unlike the Western vector vaccines from AstraZeneca and Johnson&Johnson-is over 90 percent. Even about side effects of Sputnik - V, despite millions of vaccinations, nothing has become known worldwide until today.

But the problem is the same again: if Sputnik-V is approved, ordered and vaccinated in the EU, it will reduce the profits of Western pharmaceutical companies. And that is not what the EU wants.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) spends a lot of time approving Sputnik-V. Moreover, the EU has no plans to conclude a pre-contract with Russia similar to that concluded with Western companies at a time when they had not even developed vaccines. The EU is putting the brakes on Sputnik-V where it can only protect the profits of Western pharmaceutical companies.

But how does this fit in with the mantra that you want to vaccinate people as quickly as possible? This mantra is shouted into the world by the same politicians who at the same time artificially maintain the vaccine shortage by, among other things, keeping the Russian vaccine out of Europe.

At the latest, this shows that it is not at all about vaccination against a (alleged) "plague", but only about transferring as much tax money to Western corporations as possible.

Former pharmaceutical lobbyist is head of the EMA.

It can only be a coincidence that, prior to joining the EU, Irish Emer Cooke, who was appointed head of the EMA in November 2020, was head of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), a European lobby group for the pharmaceutical industry that includes AstraZeneca, Johnson&Johnson and Pfizer. She worked there until 1998 and then moved directly to the EU.

On 16 November 2020, she was appointed head of the EMA, responsible for the approval of vaccines in the EU. And it was fast: AstraZeneca and BioNTech/Pfizer had their EU approvals before Christmas 2020. And as soon as Johnson&Johnson announced that their vaccine had finally been developed, Johnson & Johnson also received EU approval in March 2021.

Russia has already applied to the EMA for approval of its drug – which has long been finished and has already been sold millions of times worldwide – in January 2021. But for some reason, the EMA still has not managed to approve the Russian vaccine. Anyone who sees a connection to Emer Cooke's connections to the pharmaceutical lobby here is, of course, a conspiracy theorist.

AstraZeneca's scandal vaccine.

The approval of Sputnik-V in the EU is likely to take so long for another reason: the head of the EMA is busy dispelling criticism of AstraZeneca's scandal vaccine. In the UK, there are already 79 thrombosis after vaccination with AstraZeneca (19 of them fatal) and other countries are also reporting increased side effects with the vaccine. Many countries have therefore stopped vaccinations with AstraZeneca or, like Germany, at least restricted them.

The former pharmaceutical lobbyist and now EMA boss Cooke, on the other hand, initially denied any connection between (fatal) thrombosis and AstraZeneca, only to admit it later – after the cases have continued to accumulate – after all. But nevertheless, Mrs. Cooke recommends the vaccine of AstraZeneca of course still unreservedly.

The excitement about AstraZeneca must mean a lot of stress for Ms. Cooke and her people at the EMA, so one should understand that they do not have time for the approval of Sputnik-V.

Single operations in the EU.

The line of the EU bothers some member states so much that they leave the line and order Sputnik-V on their own. Hungary has done this very early and has been vaccinating the Russian vaccine for months.

Apparently, politics in Germany is getting cold feet because of the upcoming federal elections in September and fears that voters could punish them for the artificially created vaccine shortage and the thus artificially prolonged lockdown. Therefore, Bavaria has already signed a preliminary agreement for the license production of Sputnik-V and even Federal Corruption Minister Jens Spahn, who is otherwise a loyal servant of the pharmaceutical industry, now wants to negotiate with Moscow about the delivery of Sputnik-V to Germany.

When it comes to the elections, Germany is already leaving the – otherwise so sacred – line of the EU, which does not want the Russian vaccine.

The fact that the EU representatives do not want the Russian vaccine is also no wonder: EU officials do not have to justify themselves in elections before the citizen, they can openly-and with impunity-give tax money to the pharmaceutical industry and they can not care whether the lockdown with all its consequences lasts a few months longer.

What do people in Brussels care about when the pharmaceutical industry offers lucrative consultancy contracts for the period after working at the EU?

You think those in charge want to end the lockdowns?
