Technically, you are correct. Notwithstanding, when we referring to this vaccine, it is indeed modified. I have seen it referred to sometimes as modRNA, but all-too often it is written as simply mRNA. In this circle of science, mRNA is understood to be modified though. A nucleoside-modified messenger RNA (modRNA) is a synthetic messenger RNA (mRNA) in which some nucleosides are replaced by other naturally modified nucleosides or by synthetic nucleoside analogues.
