>The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not “backpedal” on the number of deaths caused by COVID-19, reducing the figure from nearly 154,000 to just over 9,000, as social media posts claimed. The term “Only 6%” trended widely on Twitter over the weekend as supporters of the ****QAnon conspiracy theory**** promoted tweets that falsely suggested the CDC had updated its records to show that only 6% of U.S. deaths tied to COVID-19 were legitimate. President Donald Trump was among those who tweeted the information, which was later taken down by Twitter for violating platform rules. The posts, which received hundreds of thousands of shares online, were based on a regularly updated CDC data table showing underlying conditions for those who died of COVID-19. The conditions included high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, as well as problems that are caused by COVID-19 itself, such as respiratory failure and pneumonia. The CDC data table is based on an analysis of death certificates that mention COVID-19 as a cause. For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned, the CDC notes. The other 94% list COVID-19 and other conditions together. Among those deaths, there were, on average, 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death, the public health agency said.
>WEST READING, Pa. - A man who tested positive for coronavirus after being involved in a car accident has died.
>Man who died in motorcycle crash counted as COVID-19 death in Florida: Report
>According to the report, Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino was asked whether two coronavirus victims in their 20s had any underlying medical conditions that could have potentially made them more susceptible to the virus. Pino's answer was that one of the two people who was listed as a COVID death actually died in a motorcycle crash. Despite health officials knowing the man died in a motorcycle crash, it is unclear whether or not his death was removed from the overall count in the state.
Q did this...
Annie Glenn, the wife of astronaut John Glenn, recently died. She was 100, but yet she "died of COVID."
When you're 100 your dance card is full of "Date with Death" anyway.
When you're 55-60, Death is sending you postcards saying "Wish you were here."
Recently I've watched tv show called "true detectives", it's not bad it's rather good
And one of the two cops is some sort of ex junky nihilist philosopher. And he painted one of the most accurate and depressing picture of the human condition in one paragraph or so... I wish the scene was available on tubes... Ah, that's it, right there.... https://youtu.be/A8x73UW8Hjk?t=118
"They don't want to know that a man bites a dog, because the world is not supposed to happen like that. In short, what people think they want is news, but what they really crave is olds."
- Sir Terry Pratchett, "The Truth"
That's a pretty deep speech for a television show, btw.
