Actually, yes. This has been standard policy since at least the 1960s as it legitimizes them. Look at Tommy Robinson. He's literally a Jew, formally leader of a NATSO movement, then a White nationalist movement, then a civic nationalist movement. He is confirmed as a Mossad asset. He did "jail time" and was allegedly tortured too. He returned from "jail" some twenty or so pounds lighter as proof of his "torture and starvation."

Standard policy is to provide jail time as a cooling effect on the pubic and to legitimize the person to the public audience.

Does this mean he's conop? I dunno. But it certainly doesn't mean he's not.
