Yes, some people are lazy and will make excuses, IF THEY CAN. Those parents they live with are enabling their laziness but that doesn't change the fact that buying a home in this era is signing up for a 30 year debt for most people. 30 years of debt would even be doable in an economy with some level of employment security. The only way to achieve employment security I have found is to run my own business, but that too isn't something everyone is capable of.
