As a guy who worked in an ammo manufacturing plant, this is retarded.

To my knowledge it'd be theoretically possible to put a serial number on the outside of a casing. Ludicrously costly and impractical though, since it'd require every ammo manufactory retool AND result in criminals simply buying unserialized ammo or reloading spent brass picked up from ranges. I'm scratching my head over any sane way to stamp that. You'd probably have to engrave every single round.

Which is aside from the difficulty of tracking serialized ammo. I know people that buy loose, bulk ammo by the barrelful. Good luck tracking where those thousands of 30 cent rounds went.

In terms of serializing inside the casing, is that even possible to do in the first place? And would it even be legible after firing? I doubt it.

It's almost as dumb as the primer-microstamping Cali wants.

On the bottom of the casing, you'd need custom brass stamps made. It'd only he possible to serialize lots. Like each month is a new number. These machines make hundreds of bullets a minute you can't stamp each individual casing a new number. It's bakrupt every ammo manufacturer just to make the new tooling and stamp process

Laser engraving on metal is a thing. It can be very fast, but not quite fast enough to keep up with the machines making the bullets. The bigger problem that this idea faces is the shear number of bullets manufacturers would need to serialize. It would be necessary to have a lengthy serial number composed of alphanumeric characters in order to uniquely serialize every single bullet made by all manufacturers. There would not be enough space on the casing to record such a lengthy serial number. And the databases for recording these serial numbers would be difficult to maintain in a usable and accurate fashion and it still won't track bullets that changed hands after the initial sale. It's a stupid (((idea))).

Can we serialize all the niggers so we can register them as public health dangers?

(((They))) don't want VoterID but (((they))) want to track your ammo. The ironic part is that most states are now using 'ID Me' to identify/verify a person's identity to get state benefits and even unemployment services and the liberals don't give a shit about the niggers and spics being registered in databases like that. Will (((they))) require ID Me to buy ammo since it uses facial recognition?

How to make ammunition even more difficult to get 101... How to place even more fear into an already fearful population 101... How to anger an already angry population 101. Etc., Etc., Etc... Constriction. More, more, more. Always more. This is all being done on purpose. Will it go through? Who cares, at this point? There's already thought to be trillions of rounds of ammo out there that's not in "compliance" with the "next fuck you" to the law abiding White male. And there will be a new "fuck you, White man" next week.

Don't tell them casing catchers exist.

Or even just reloading. If casings were serialized and I was a criminal, it'd be trivial to pocket a few casings from the floor every range trip and reload them. Presto, the next time I sideways-gun driveby my rival gang, all the casings I leave behind have serials purchased by some random geezer who was shooting at the range before me.

Sure, RSOs will be up my ass if I raid the brass bucket, but they could care less about someone picking up a handful of casings from a previous patron's lackadaisical sweeping.

It's an absolutely insane and idiotic bill.

Just as stupid as microstamping and "smart" guns.

The sole "smart" gun I've seen that isnt complete garbage is the Biofire, and that's a niche use case of a dedicated nightstand gun for people who're concerned about unauthorized household users. E.g. if you have a felon living in the home, are running a home-based daycare, etc it'd be a solid upgrade over "no gun" or "gun locked in a safe".

It's not something I'd carry because that isnt my niche, but it'd the closest thing I've seen to functional. Every other "smart gun" is a good way to get yourself killed and objectively inferior to a traditional firearm.
