Now THERE'S a law I can get behind
"Sergeant Joseph Hubbard, for one, says he now worries that every time he pulls over a car, the driver might shoot him and cite the law as justification. "Somebody is going get away with killing a cop because of this law."" Worry is good. It means that they will ensure their actions are lawful. Using "welfare checks" as an excuse to perform warrantless searches was bullshit.
This was moved from a news sub by mods. It has nothing to do with losing gun rights. It's the opposite. I can't move it back.
It makes perfect sense. The homeowner has no way of knowing that the person breaking into his house is a cop. The fact that the cop says "Police!" in a loud voice is meaningless -- any criminal can say "police." I think this is a good law. Police will just have to stop breaking into people's houses at 3 in the morning.
And the cops can go into the wrong house and shoot you. At least you can defend yourself now
