Possession of a weapon of mass destruction

Normally isn't that explosives or bioweapon type stuff?

Yeah, but he had a massive "high capacity magazine" (nevermind that it's standard) so he was going to cause "mass destruction".

Politicians hate the Constitutional ban on double jeopardy, so they invent the next best thing: multiple charges for the same act. For example, anti-gun nuts can pass a law making it a felony to carry a gun under a t-shirt, and another law making it a felony to carry a gun under a flannel. If you carry gun under a t-shirt and a flannel they charge you with two felonies. People should get ballot propositions on the books to prevent overzealous prosecutors from "stacking" charges for one incident.
