The document reworks and broadens the definition of what parts constitute a regulated firearm receiver. It then says any unfinished part that “may readily be converted” into a receiver must be treated as a receiver and requires sellers to obtain federal licenses, mark the unfinished parts with serial numbers, and perform background checks on buyers. The proposal provides only subjective standards for what makes an unfinished part “readily” convertible into a finished firearm but provides footnotes to court cases where the term has been applied. One court example included in the document said a part completed in “around an eight-hour working day in a properly equipped machine shop” was considered “readily” convertible. The only example of a ruling defining when a part is not “readily” convertible involved a process that “required [a] master gunsmith in a gun shop and $65,000 worth of equipment and tools.”

Until the ATF can fully explain and justify Operation Fast n Furious they... can go fuck themselves.

They help NOBODY

A piece of metal is now considered a receiver.

If you think about how broad this bill is, a metal spoon is a felony now, because you can smelt the spoon down, and recreate a receiver out of it. You would also need to ban home depot, lowes, walmart, homegoods, hobby lobby since they are clearly aiding and abetting the creation of ghost guns. Also, federal licenses would be required for most any job that is hands on such as construction, mechanic, etc

Creative thought, and general machining must be outlawed.

I can make a block of billet into an ar-15 lower in less than 8 hours on my cnc machine. They going to start stamping blocks of billet with serial numbers?

No. They're going to arrest you if you don't, however.

[–] [deleted] 4 pts

They can already likely arrest me for dozens of other things anyway just add another to the list. Like pissing into an ocean of piss.

And even if you've somehow managed to live a squeaky clean life they could just send some CP to your phone or computer, arrest you for that and make everyone you know think you're a pedophile so even if you're eventually released you won't have anyone to help get you back on your feet.

It's at the point where I've lost track of everything I do that used to be legal and now isn't. I stopped caring long ago.

Yeah, if it's a felony to just have a regular rifle, then just go full auto belt fed.

They make em equal, then don't even bother trying to comply at all.

Chicago+gun control=762 murders every year, with already illegal/stolen firearms 'owned' by felons who can not own a firearm. What does Biden and the ATF plan for this? How many crimes have been committed with a 'ghost gun'?

Logic doesn't matter. It's about disarming the good people.
