Countless people have suffered serious hearing loss due to unsuppressed gunfire. This is a handicap that lasts for the rest of your life. It never needs to happen, because we can put sound suppressors on guns that reduce the noise down to a level that does not cause damage to your ears. This form of injury is completely fixable.
Yet politicians continue to treat sound suppressors as if they were some kind of evil menace to society. It is irrational, and it is hurting people, lots and lots of people. Every single gun made should, by law, have a sound suppressor attached to its muzzle. Every gun. It should be illegal to shoot a gun without a suppressor on it. There is zero reason not to do this. Suppressors do not inhibit the working of a gun to the slightest degree.

Technical correction only. Silencers do cause more rapid heat build up, do affect point of impact, and do add both length and weight to a gun. They are a tool. Nothing more.
On locked breach guns like your typical pistol suppressors add mass to the reciprocating system, slowing rearward movement and potentially inducing failures. Ammunition and springs have to be balanced to provide reliable function, additionally on any pistols a device is required at the suppressor to allow greater movement of the barrel.
Suppressors are wonderful and should be completely legal to own without a background checl or permit but they should remain a personal choice. I would love to have one on a home defense gun.
