Look at NJ. It can take 6 months for the FID. Assuming you get said FID, you have to get a permit to get a pistol. This can take upwards of a year or more, and some counties just straight banned the practice. Assuming this works, NJ just recently passed a "cool off" period on top of the delay. So you need to cool off for 10 days after waiting a year, after waiting 6 months. After having done this, you can not get a CCWP, can not drive with said firearm, can not discharge it in most counties. Now guess what the highest crime city in the US is, or used to be before everyone left? Camden, NJ ...
Yes and no. It can certainly take months to get an FID if you are allowed to get one, but the counties have nothing to do with it. The process is handled at the local PD level, unless your town doesn't have its own department. (Then you go to the State Police.) NJ is a 'may issue' state, meaning the local police can reject your application without cause.
Camden is a shithole but it's not the city with the highest crime rate in the US. Last I checked that was Detroit, but I'm not sure anymore.
I tried, it was painful, and crime was still high in the Edison NJ area, Vineland and Camden. Clearly the utopic gun free state does not work to deter gun crime
Agreed. I hate it here and regret the decision to come back, albeit temporarily.
