Agreed, but just like the last time a group of states tried leaving, I can't imagine it would go any more peacefully this time.

One would hope that cooler heads might prevail. I'm not one who thinks that will happen, however.

I expect to see balkanization between urban and rural, with suburbs being claimed depending on location.

States with more medium sized cities ultimately turning blue, those with only a few population centers with go red, and states with lots of rural and spawl from larger cities will be battlegrounds.

Yeah, I'd agree with that outlook. I'd even add that there would be some shifting between locations as the local politics changes. For example, I can imagine leftists who've moved to, say, Austin from CA digging in hard in their leftist enclave but if enough people on the right were to move there it could be possible to send them packing.
