I only did three!
I think those are just lines on the neck for reference points. It does look like it has frets though.
I like the look of the bass clef sound hole but then the went and put a hole in the top edge of the thing!
Yeah, they're just there for reference points. It's a creative idea. I kinda want to play one. I do love me a fretless bass, but I have to do some warm up before I can play one very well.
It's not my usual five minute warm up that lets me adjust to differences between guitars, like scale length and fretboard radius. It's more like 15 to 20 minutes to really adjust and ensure I'm in the right spot on the fretboard.
I was thinking without those marks on there it would be more difficult to hit the right note at the right moment, especially if you were having to make a 7 fret move
I can play without the marks "just fine". By "just fine" it means I did some warming up first and got my fingers used to the length of the fretboard. Once I adjust to that, I can play it just fine.
It's not much different than playing in the dark or with your eyes closed. I can play behind my back, so adjusting to a fretless guitar (or bass) isn't too bad. Give me 15 or 20 minutes (ahead of time, if it's a show) and my fingers will remember. If I play fretless consistently, I don't need the lead time to practice.
I have multiple fretless instruments.
