I haven't dug anything new out for a couple of weeks now. I've been occupied with the truck and some Volvo drives. The Volvo remains in my garage all winter long as an 'always' option.
The old Volvo is a safe and nearly indestructible winter car
It's also a fucking riot to drive in the winter.
It's rear wheel drive and has zero modern nannies. It's still pretty safe, though not by modern standards. I'm comfortable with that, even in the slipperiest of conditions.
It's also predictable. You can throw it sideways and steer around a corner using the gas pedal instead of the steering wheel. You can execute a Scandinavian Flick on command. You can use the handbrake to control how sideways you are.
It's a very busy car to drive if you want it to be. You'll have both feet going while using one hand on the steering wheel and another on the shifter alternating with the handbrake. All while in an antique Volvo! It's an absolute riot.
That does sound like a damned good time
