It is due on the 1st of February and they already cut you off?
I'd be on the phone with the PUC, bitching at them.
Well, I would if my phone worked.
As for your phone, I suppose you've tried everything. Don't forget to try removing the battery to completely reset the CMOS.
I'm sure you've tried moving It around, with the cord at different angles. You're not a moron, so I don't really have much to suggest.
I have taken the battery out and am considering stripping the wires from the usb charger and taping a wire to the plus and wire to the minus but I am afraid I will blow the damned thing up, hasn't stopped my from thinking about it
So long as you're sure of two things...
One, you gotta get the right pins. Two, you need an output voltage from the jack itself of 3.7 to 5 V.
The second may change if it's a newer phone that uses USB-C and has fast charging. In that case, it can handle more than 5 V, but you won't break anything with 5 V output from the jack itself.
Basically, stay under 5 V and you should be set.
Otherwise, contact your cell phone company and see what they have stuffed in their 'used' drawer for cheap phones that are at least a little modern?
I generally charge my phone with the usb ports on my laptop and I have no clue the voltage they put out
