Yeah, something's bound to come behind us. If the environment is conducive, even intelligence will grow.
Hopefully they are smarter than us
Hopefully...
Frankly, I'm kinda amazed that we haven't absolutely caused a mass extinction event that also included homo sapiens.
We've created some extinction events, but we're still alive. Frankly, and I'm sure much of Poal doesn't understand the basic concepts, the climate is changing at a rate that is more rapid than it has ever changed before and it sure does coincide with emissions from us humans.
But, if the math is correct, we're already kinda fucked and there's not much we can do about it. There's no turning back at this point. It's just a question of how fucked we are.
If we're lucky, we'll lose some island nations and some low-laying cities. Hell, Venice is reaching the point where it is unlivable. There will be climate refugees in large numbers. This is gonna happen no matter what we do. You can go out and buy an electric vehicle all you want, we're already past the tipping point.
It's unlikely to directly cause human extinction. We'll adapt.
I don't buy any of the climate change nonsense. CO2 is not bad for the environment and the claims they make about it are just absurd. In fact, plants love CO2 and the pump it into greenhouses to promote growth. As well as the nonsense they are spewing to not use nitrogen fertilizer anymore. Nitrogen is not harmful as they claim, it has been in use for a long, long time and has been proven safe and effective if used properly. To outright ban it as some nations are doing is akin to attempting a genocide by starvation. It's all a power and money grab. The Earth can take care of itself, we are not the caretakers, it is
