It could. It could also turn into a "Let's win it for Hamlin!" type of scenario.
I suspect he's going to be 'fine'. By that, I mean he'll live out a fairly normal life. They were quick with the CPR and giving him shock treatment.
I doubt he'll play football again, but I suspect he'll be more or less fine. While he's in 'critical care' that could be largely due to his status. For better or worse, some of us get better treatment in hospitals.
(See my experience with it and compare my experiences with pretty much everyone else you know.)
I'm just guessing, obviously. 'Snot like I have some inner-circle knowledge. If I did have some inner-circle knowledge, I'd probably tell you in private.
I have seen reports that he is already dead but who knows how reputable they are
All the reputable places (where I've looked - and when I looked) had him in critical condition.
His heart just stopped. That's generally not too terrible if you get it going again. You're in CC long enough for observation, ensuring your heart is beating again, and then you head out into the regular ward for a few more days while they continue to keep you hooked up to a heart monitor.
I've known people who suffered from cardiac arrest.
That's my experience with it.
This dude is in the best shape of his life. If he's not recovering, that's fucked. In the few cases I've known folks to suffer from a full cardiac arrest, they were decidedly not in the best of shape - and were significantly older.
So, if he doesn't live, I'm gonna be surprised as fuck.
As for his football career, even if he wanted to continue I doubt any teams would let him on the field. They're not gonna take that risk (I suspect).
Man, it's gonna be bizarre if he does die. They got to CPR and the electricity quickly.
Hopefully for his sake he is recovering. He did have a very fast medical response, and like you said he is in great shape, so if anyone has a chance it is a guy like that
