I did a lot of swinging of a mop
Ha! I did that too!
I worked as a 'stripper'. That's not what you think. We would go in and strip the wax and apply new wax on tile floors. We did giant things, like stores and malls. We'd be a week in a single location. Each section of floor was mopped a dozen times by the time you were done with it.
On top of that, I mopped a shitton while enlisted - for my first go-round. I was a grunt and only a grunt. My MOS was infantry 'cause, well, I figured I was gonna die so I might as well go out a full fledged warrior. I was all sorts of stupid and gung-ho.
But, when you're just a warrior Marine, there's a lot of stupid shit they make you do to keep you busy. I also painted everything. All the things that didn't get painted, got shined. Floors got waxed and buffed.
I've done my share of stripping and waxing too!
That wasn't a terrible job. It was nights, of course. The stores were closed - unless they were open 24 hours. If they were open 24 hours, we did it in sections.
We also did small stores, like convenience stores. Those you could do in a night, but you had to constantly argue with morons who thought they could just walk across your freshly waxed floor, or that they could walk on it while you were stripping and applying the wax.
I did that job while attending school.
