Yeah, they're meant to eat up large amounts of pavement, 'touring' across Europe. So, you don't want to stop all the time. This means a large fuel tank - larger than some SUVs, vans, and many other cars.
There's a Jerry can on the back that'll hold another 5+ gallons in it. I obviously don't put gas in it.
I get "good" mileage in it. It looks to be about 24 mpg, roughly. That's in 2WD with the hubs unlocked. (They're manual locking hubs.)
Thats not too bad of mileage for the age and what it is
That's the 2F engine that it has. It's a great engine. In its day, it was one of the best engines out there. It's a highly coveted engine for Japanophiles.
In a lot of ways, it reminds me of the contemporary inline 6 that Nissan had. You can modify the fuck out of a 2F engine and it handles it just fine. Mine is stock and in brilliant condition. It's got plenty of low end torque that would make 4WD a bunch of fun.
It's one of those engines where you can put it in 4WD-Low, slip the clutch, take your foot off the gas, and know that you're gonna make it through any obstacles ahead.
