That's the 2F engine that it has. It's a great engine. In its day, it was one of the best engines out there. It's a highly coveted engine for Japanophiles.
In a lot of ways, it reminds me of the contemporary inline 6 that Nissan had. You can modify the fuck out of a 2F engine and it handles it just fine. Mine is stock and in brilliant condition. It's got plenty of low end torque that would make 4WD a bunch of fun.
It's one of those engines where you can put it in 4WD-Low, slip the clutch, take your foot off the gas, and know that you're gonna make it through any obstacles ahead.

In an HMMWV/Humvee, if you have the deep water fording kit you do the same thing but you sit up on the seat back and steer with your feet. If you do that, you can ford 7' of water.
Roll your windows down, just in case. That way you can swim out if it ends up being too deep.
I can understand not being able to open the doors under water, but why can't you open a window under water?
