I usually go to the seediest bar I can find and then just straight up ask for a connection.

This seems to work no matter where I go, except for some tighter places. Like, it took some asking, riding in dodgy taxi cabs, and meeting some scary fuckers to get hooked up in Thailand. It's understandable. The penalty for selling drugs is life in prison there - complete with a ball and chain. Possession is 10 years, but you get to take the ball and chain off after like two years.

As you know my thoughts, that's fucking stupid. Prohibition never works and they end up making drugs so valuable that people risk life-imprisonment for it.

Literally, the penalty is life.

Oh, fuck yeah... At the time, I was a pretty heavy opiate user - a few years after retiring. Heroin there came largely in pill form mixed with who knows what, including meth - which is just absurd. The two drugs shouldn't be mixed. I was eventually able to secure a fairly good chunk of black tar and that worked for me. Thailand only let me bring in 3 days worth of medication and then I'd have to get a prescription from a local doctor. In theory, some of the doctors are corrupt, but the person advising me suggest I not try that as a short term tourist. They told me that would likely be a sting operation, as the doctor would call the police.

If I was gonna be there for months on end, then I should have spent the time doctor shopping, paying about a $500 to find a doctor that would hook me up long term. I kinda wanted to do something like that, 'cause you could rent a bungalow on the beach for like $75 a month.

Thailand is fucking beautiful.
