No doubt. It will be very interesting to have the real thing to compare it to. Much different than if I were trying to see how good it is
When I compared the Les Paul copy, not really a Chibson 'cause it doesn't have the Gibson headstock or pretend to be, it was definitely favorable. For $170, it was not as good as a $4000 Gibson but closer to it than one might think based on the price.
Modern cheap guitars are amazing, from what I've seen. You can get a solid playing guitar for under $100 now. Sure, you might need to adjust action and intonation, probably will need to file the nut, and probably want new strings... Even without doing those things, they're coming out of the box just needing a wipe down and a tuning.
It's amazing. I wish we had this shit available when I was growing up. When I was growing up, a cheap guitar was unplayable. They were closer to toys than they were to instruments.
Yeah the guitars that were cheap in the 80's were garbage. I would go to the guitar store a lot looking for something to buy and everything in my price range was terrible to play. There was this flying V that I really liked and that was something like $899, too much for me. Until one day I went and they were having a sale and I got it for $399! Then it was mine. I had an old F hole acoustic from the 30's or 40 that the action was a half inch off the fretboard before that. That sucked.
LOL Imagine the late 60s and 70s garbage.
Let's face it, we had shitty options for cheap guitars when we were kids.
I wonder if today's kids will be saying the same thing when they're our age? If so, guitar-quality would be amazing.
