Those old Martins have got to be very valuable.

Those won't be as valuable as you might think. For example, a 1945 or even 1955 or maybe even 1965 dreadnought would likely be more valuable. Collectors aren't as into them as one might think.

Guitar collecting is illogical at times - kinda like car collecting.

You're talking about late 1800's if I understand you correctly. I guess they might not be as playable as those you mentioned, but they have to be more rare.

They're more rare and still worth less - even if perfectly playable. A 40s dreadnought is worth multiples of the other.

(I own multiples of each. I have more Martins from 45 to 55 than you own guitars. They're a brilliant investment.)
