Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

chibson is forgery isnt it?

Not really. It's a copy - and can violate some trademark regulations depending on how close it is, but it doesn't Gibson on the headstock nor does it pretend to be a Gibson - or even sell itself as a Gibson.

A forgery would need to be passed off as real, at least in my understanding of the concept.

You can copy the greatest violins on the planet and sell them - so long as you don't lie/mislead about the origin and provenance.

Oh, I thought they put the gibson name on the guitars

No, no... There were some pretty close to it headstock labels during the lawsuit years, but that was largely a Japan thing.

For a while, Japan was making REALLY close copies - including headstock shape and a logo that'd look similar. Gibson sued the shit out of those that imported guitars into America (and other nations).

So, they stopped making those. Those are actually kinda collectible today, more for nostalgia reasons than anything else. They're known as 'lawsuit era guitars'.

But, no... My Chibson clearly says IYV on the headstock.
