It was used by Jeff Beck, John Mayer, Joe Perry, Nels Cline and Matt Schofield. So, if you want to cover them, you might want it.
It's also a really, really nice tone. It has a buffer and after it distorts the signal it puts the original signal back into the mix. It's pretty neat.

I'm not sure I should have invested this much brain power on things like this. But, here we are...
I don't really want to cover anybody. I just want to play my songs. LoL
In which case, it has some pretty great tones. You'd find a use for the tones that come out of it. It's very unlike the distortion you're used to hearing. It's a warm distortion - with clarity somehow. It's very different. There are plenty of clones out there, so it's not hard to recreate the tune or close enough to it.
Maybe i'll check it out some day for 25 bucks, I know how to solder
