They'd have gained in height, probably. I don't know if the effect would be that strong.
Here's a fun one... When you wake up, get an accurate measurement of your height. Then, after a day on your feet/working/up and about, go ahead and measure it again. You'll likely be about 0.5" taller in the morning than you are at night. That's just for a single day's worth of spinal compression.
So, yeah, if the forces were exerted in a different direction the effect would be the same - though maybe not as pronounced.
And, yeah, there are a number of bobsledding tracks that I found - including one in Lake Placid. So, it shouldn't be all that hard. The next time I'm near one, I'll definitely at least go look at the track in person. I'll decide how big my balls are when I stand at the top with naught but a skeleton frame beneath me.
It'd be kinda fun to try it in a runner sled, a plastic sled, and an inner-tube. Though those last two are more difficult to control.
It'd be kinda funny if I had a similar time as the real athletes do. LOL No, no... You can't recruit me for an Olympic team. But, it'd be funny - and probably damned near impossible.
I went to the top of a ski jump ramp once and looked down and there is no way in hell that I would go down that ramp on a pair of skis. You have to be crazier than me to do that shit
Oh, fuck no... Not a chance.
Hell, snowboarders in the half pipe are 40+ feet off the ground. Fuck that one too.
This year the ski slopes are made differently. Even though they jump as long, they're never really all that far off the ground. I'm still not doing it, but it's better.
Hell, I'm not even going down the small jump where you "only" jump for like 65 meters/70ish yards.
I did go on the small jump first, I think they called it the bulldozer for some reason. And I would not attempt that either. No way. No how.
maybe I would go down the ski jump hill with a hang glider and launch airward and hopefully land gently. That might be fun
