Yeah, those suck.
The worst one I calculated was a -98° - with the windchill added to it.
It was like -34° and then we had wind gusts up to 60 mph with a sustained wind of something like 45 mph.
It was intense. The moisture froze in the air so there was like a fine mist of small, really tiny, particles that made any exposed skin hurt immediately. You could turn back-to the wind and pee and it wouldn't really burn a hole in the snow - it built up like a stalagmite of frozen piss.
That's the most brutal cold I've ever experienced.
Anything longer than a few minutes would kill someone who wasn't dressed for it. Even if you were dressed for it, it'd kill you - it'd just take longer, like a half hour.
Not even the locals went outside to work. Besides, it was too cold for much of anything nto start that hadn't been stored in a heated environment. Not even engine block warmers were enough - though the good kind, the engine cooler heater (heats the radiator fluid directly) still worked.
It was fucking insane.
That one wasn't all that long ago. It was sometime between 2015 and 2017.
Negative 98 is colder than I have ever experienced, and I don't want to!
It was really only -34, unless you were a living creature. Then the wind wicks away the body temp making a 'feels like' temperature.
We have a lot of wind here.
I think the coldest I can remember around here was -20 or thereabouts as far as temperature. My car would not start
