Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

I don't know if the .co part would change or not. Changing host is just changing servers?

I should know that but I don't.

Having no audience is no fun, music is for sharing.

I would rather not stop. I enjoy it. I would like it to have a larger audience like we had on the voat. The participation there was awesome.

Yeah, changing hosts is just changing the server(s). The domain name remains the same to you, but will have a new nameserver/DNS change to point to the new servers. There will be a delay as DNS doesn't propagate immediately - it can take up to 72 hours, though I've seen it take minutes and I've seen it take 5 days to fully propagate.

Propagate means the DNS lookup servers change the IP addresses to the new servers. It'll propagate in stages with different servers changing the data as they get it and act on it. (It's all automated.)

Oh OK. I thought it meant getting a new website address.

No, the only data lost will be what was generated after they took a backup image. That's why data will be lost. They already made the backup and that's what they'll restore. This conversation will only partially exist when it has been restored. Anything newer than when he backed up will be lost.

The domain name should remain the same. There's no reason for it to change. The registrar could cancel the domain name, but that's not what's happening here. In this case, the hosting company got tired of the abuse complaints. The site clearly violates the rules for most every hosting company on the planet.
