Awesome.
I still have some cars coming up that I'm interested in.
But, I gotta tell you, I'm pretty much auctioned-the-fuck-out... I will be glad when it ends on Sunday.
After this, I'll never buy more than 5 cars at an auction again. Well, in that area... Maybe one or two more. ;-) It depends on what I sell.
Unlike my guitars, I'll sell the cars. At the right price, I'd sell pretty much every car I own. There's a few that I'm emotionally attached to, and a few that I can't replace - and really like - without spending a lot more than what I paid.
To think...
This all started because I was in a wreck in 2018... I already had a small (to me) car collection back then. I had 23 or 24 road-legal cars and one 'barn'.
After the wreck, I realized how close death was. That was my motivation to move money from assets that appreciate to assets that I appreciate.
Had it not been for the accident, I'd probably have like 30 cars by now.
That damned lawyer!!!
You should be able to enjoy the fruits of your life.
Enjoy the hell out of them.
If I had the opportunity to purchase cars like that with a wad of money to get whatever car I wanted. I would probably get a super low mile example of the choice I made and drive the fuck out of it
I usually look for the best examples I can find and then I look for a bargain on those examples. You probably don't read all the descriptions of the cars I buy (That'd take you a while and you don't have to pretend to be all that interested!) but I usually aim for stuff with fairly low miles or recently restored type of stuff.
I actually don't own many 'replicas' or 'restomods'. I want the car in its original state. I don't even want a new stereo system in them.
No, I don't want yet another LS-swapped restomod with Brembo brakes, Pirelli tires, air bags, custom interior, and Kandy Koat paint!
I want the experience of driving the original car, just like it was when it rolled off the factory floor.
And, as you know, I do drive the fuck out of my cars. Well, some of them... I'm not going to do a brake stand in a 1932 Cadillac. LOL No, no I'm not going to brake stand it. I'll probably see if I can make it spin tires and see how fast I can get to 60 mph! But, no... I'm not tossing a 1932 Caddie into the corners sideways.
But... I'll rip a $350k McLaren right fucking sideways. Traction control, you say? Well, we'll be finding out how good that traction control really is!
