Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

Hey all, happy Friday! Here's a quick sloppy cover I did earlier today of Never Going Back Again by Fleetwood Mac without using a capo. Wish I had more time to get the recording right and make it longer, and also record it with my electric guitar, but I've gotta get up early tomorrow to change the motor mounts and transmission mount on my car -_-

'Snot bad for a cell phone recording. Besides, we have low standards!

Engine mounts and transmission mounts can be a SOB to change. There's always something in the damned way and barely any room in the transmission tunnel to get to the mounts in the first place. The engine mounts? That was fairly easy to do from the top (on many cars) until they started filling the engine bay to the point where it takes four hours to change a serpentine belt. So you go in from underneath the car only to find the goddamned manifold is in the way, the steering linkage is in the way, or more...

If memory serves, you're the one with the Crown Vic? Maybe that'll be easier?

Even though I'm retired and have a garage with a lift, that's the kind of nuisance job I'd pay someone else to do. But, I hardly work on my own stuff anymore. I'm either too busy or too lazy, depending on the situation. I still sometimes change my oil.

Haha thanks, I have a cheap stand alone mic but I came to realize that my cell phone mic tends to record better. I have been looking into getting one of those usb audio interface boxes for my electric guitar though so I can record straight to my computer. I'm holding off on getting one until I'm finished with all my car maintenance though, just wanna make sure I don't have to spend any more $ on parts after the mounts are swapped.

I really wish I had a car lift to use right about now. I have a friend who had one in his backyard and it really made working on my car so much easier, but unfortunately his neighbor called the HOA on him for doing a burnout down the street a few months back and long story short, they threw the book at him and told him he had to remove the lift and isn't allowed to do any type of visible car work on his property. I'm glad I was able to at least change out my suspension before that happened haha.

And yes, I have the Crown Vic! Motor mounts really are a SOB to change. Usually the motor mounts on the Vic last up to 300k miles, sometimes more, but I guess I lucked out lol. I've been reading on the Crown Vic forums for the last week and funny enough, everybody says the transmission mount is easier to change than the motor mounts. All of them have to be removed by going under the car. For the trans mount, jack stand under the tail shaft housing and I have to drop at least one side of the k member for clearance and for it to drop low enough, I may also have to unbolt the exhaust.

For the motor mounts, I'm going to need an engine hoist, some long wobble extensions/sockets, and a man of faith hahaha. It could be worse. Like you mentioned, todays cars are so full of all kinds of electronics, so at least I don't have to deal with that

LOL I have a lift and a heated garage. It was one of the things I splurged on when having the house built. I don't regret it. I also have no HOA to worry about. I barely have 'neighbors' and they're only really neighbors because there's nobody else around. They're within 'walking distance' if you want to put some effort into it.

And, yeah, I figured the mounts would be a bitch to change. It's one of those jobs where you just know you're going to bust a knuckle. I'd probably get in there two days ahead of time and spraying it heavily with penetrating oil, probably doing so twice on day one and twice on day two. I'd probably spray 'em again on the day you plan on working on it, just to make sure.

I've been at an auction since last week (bidding by phone or internet, depending on the day and my expected activity) and picked up some gems. I actually now own a Crown Vic that looks to be in pretty solid condition. It was cheap so I bought it to fuck with some friends before I resell it. It's a movie car, so it'll be valued as such.

You can see it here:

I figure I can sell it for at least what I have in it, but first I get to screw with some friends.

Great job. That sounded sweet

Thanks man! Once I get more free time, I'd like to go back and take more time recording it.
