I'm surprised they didn't want to search your house to see if he'd dropped something illegal in there - like drugs. They might have even had probable cause to do so, or at least wouldn't have had a hard time claiming so to a DA. So, that's pretty awesome that they didn't.

I'm still disappointed about the Bimmer.

Why yes, yes I would/will take advantage of stupid people who get their lives fucked up by their own doing. I own multiple guitars/amps from people who managed to fuck their lives up bad enough to be facing long jail sentences.
